A celebration of diversity in ABU Radio Song Festival 2019
The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Radio Asia Conference concluded with the gala of ABU Radio Song Festival yesterday. The event, organised by Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar, in collaboration with ABU, was held at the ball room of InterContinental Dhaka.
Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, Minister, Ministry of Information, was present at the event as the chief guest and Abdul Malek, Secretary, Ministry of Information, attended the event as the special guest. The programme was hosted by renowned actor Ferdous Ahmed and popular TV host Faria Noor.
Eight shortlisted finalists of the Asia-Pacific’s biggest international radio song festival performed at the gala concert.
The night kicked off with two group songs, Dhono Dhanno Pushpe Bhora and Shono Ekti Mujiborer Theke, sung by 12 Bangladeshi artistes. The musical soiree then continued with the performances by the finalists.
The first performer, Hassan Irufaan from Public Service Media (PSM), Maldives, performed the song, The Surf Monster. This was followed by Asanka Sahabandu and Shekara Shey’s (MBC Networks, Sri Lanka) song, Southern Skies.
Prabisha Adhikary from Radio Tulsipur, Nepal performed the song, My soul seeks to have you in the dark and Debora Fericia fromLPP Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) sang the song Because I Can. Debora’s performance was accompanied by a contemporary dance performance by Bangladeshi artistes.
Mohsin Mirzazadeh from Sorosh Multimedia Corporation, Iran rendered the devotional song Long Sea. After him, Shamyrat Hojagulyyev, from State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography (TVTM), took over the stage. This performance was followed by a song from Dieu Huong from Voice of Vietnam.
Finally, Onupoma Mukti, from Bangladesh Television (BTV), performed the song Boshonto Batashe. Certificates and mementos presented to the finalists by the guests after their performances.
The gala ended with a dance routine by Sadia Islam Mou and Kabirul Islam Roton, along with their dance troupe.
