Celebrating Happy Akhand with his classics

Happy Akhand

Sometimes referred to as the Prince of Bangladeshi music, Happy Akhand's career was a tragically short one, before his untimely death in 1987, when he was only 27 years old. The musical prodigy, along with his brother Lucky Akhand, will always be remembered as two of the greatest exponents of Bangladeshi Pop music. Here are five of his tracks that we picked for you to listen to, to relive his memory on his birthday today.

Ke Bashi Bajay Re? - An intriguing tale of an unseen flautist, the song has an unusual charm that draws you, the more you listen to it.

Pahari Jhorna - A criminally underrated classic, Pahari Jhorna is a duet that Happy and Lucky Akhand sang together. The song is an all-expense trip paid to the mountains, through your headphones!

Ei Prithibir Buke Ashey Jara - Composed by Happy Akhand and sung by Nawshad Babu, the mellow classic is suitable for a melancholy reflection.

Khola Akasher Moto- A voice that can make anyone melt, and lyrics that can make anyone fall in love with someone you don't even know. The perfect evening song.

Abar Elo Je Shondha - This song will dominate the Pop genre in Bangladesh, as long as the language exists. Inarguably the most famous song that Happy Akhand Sang, it is impossible not to sing along to! Cholo Na Ghure Ashi, Ojana Te!  Now it's stuck in your head too.
