The final installment in the first season of Cartoon People Gaan-Toon Caricature Challenge was held online, recently. The weekly contest, organised by Cartoon People, featured Nemesis frontman and singer, Md Zohad Reza Chowdhury.

Over 50 artworks by aspiring and promising cartoonists were submitted in this segment. During the live session, the concept of chasing fame came into light. "We often come across young artists who seek fame. However, when I started doing art, I never thought of becoming famous. I still remember when I first started contributing to different news dailies, including The Daily Star, just the feeling of knowing that I will be paid for drawing cartoons excited me," shared noted cartoonist Syed Rashad Imam Tanmoy. "Regardless of the need for validation or success, I was happy to keep drawing and never really expected anything in return. That's what makes us resilient as artists, no matter what sort of art form you pursue. Fame is a momentary gain and is never static, but holding on to your passion no matter what and improving every day with every creation is what matters."

Zohad Reza Chowdhury added an interesting dynamic to the conversation. "Certain people do music to be known where some pursue it to send out a message. I receive many messages where people tell me that want to become famous musicians, seek the "formula" for fame. I mean no disrespect, but personally, I don't believe there is any formula for anything especially in arts," he said. "If you are skilled and brave enough to follow your passion, magic finds you!"

The winners of the Cartoon People Gaan-Toon Caricature Challenge 8 are: Asif Faisal Prangon (first place), Zia Priom (second place), Tamim Anju (third place), and Shadhin Khan (fourth place).
