Bappy Chowdhury is one of the most popular film actors in Bangladesh. Several of his films are awaiting their releases, while others are currently underway. Due to the pandemic, the film shoots were postponed. Recently, Bappy started shooting for a new film. In a candid chat with The Daily Star, the actor talks about his upcoming ventures and more.

Tell us about the film you recently started shooting for.

I recently started working on the film, Covid-19 in Bangladesh, co-starring Adhora Khan and directed by Ohiduzzaman Diamond. The story mainly focuses on Covid-19 and our lives around it. We finished the first day of shoot at the Kamalapur Railway Station, when the trains weren't in operation. The next shoot was indoors. I am playing the role of a doctor named Kabir.

What kind of safety measures did the cast and crew taking on the sets?

We are following all the rules of social distancing. First of all, the unit consisted of only eight people and we all wore masks while shooting. We followed all the proper hygiene measures and Adhora and I were the only actors in each scene. We did our own make up, without any crew. We started shooting at five in the morning and worked for several hours to avoid crowds.

How are you spending time at home during this pandemic?

I am regularly exercising at home, watching films and chatting with my family members. Until we can secure a vaccine for Covid-19, we have to live like this. We have to be careful, and maintain all the health guidelines for our safety.  I am trying to stay as optimistic as I can.
