Bangladeshi films in the offing

As the first half of 2019 comes to a close, it is apparent that the Bangladeshi film industry is picking up steam again, having delivered some ace productions that kept the audience hooked. It is crucial that we support our film industry by going to the theatres and watching what our superstars have to offer. We take a look at some of the most notable upcoming releases.

Obotaar, directed by Mamun Hasan Sikder and starring Mahiya Mahi, is slated for release on July 19, while Shaap Ludo, directed by Golam Shahriar Dodul and starring Arifin Shuvoo among others, is expected to hit theatres later this year.

A muhurat was recently held for the Shakib Khan and Bubly starrer, Moner Moton Manush Pailam Na, directed by Zakir Hossain Raju. Shahenshah, starring Shakib Khan and Nusraat Faria in the lead roles and  directed by Shamim Ahamed Roni, is also expected to release soon. On the other hand, director Arun Chowdhuri’s Mayaboti, starring Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Yash Rohan among others, recently received an uncut clearance from the censor board. The film is expected to release later this year.  Shahoshi Joddha, starring Poppy, is also expected to hit theatres in 2019.

Inspired from the operations conducted by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Dipankar Dipon announced his latest film, Operation Sundarban, recently. After his smash hit Dhaka Attack, the audience has high expectations from this film.  The filmmaker is also gearing up for his film, Dhaka 2040.

The filming of the Nayeem Imtiaz Niamul directorials, Gangchill and Jam, is currently underway. Another film, Bishwa Shundori, directed by Chayanika Chowdhury and written by Rumman Rashid Khan, is also in the making. Popular actor Pori Moni stars in Bishwa Shundori.

Some other films to look forward to are: Mission Xtreme, Rickshaw Girl Shaan and Amar Maa.
