Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy celebrates 47th anniversary

Marking the 47th anniversary of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), a two-day celebration programme began yesterday at all their branches.

BSA was established under the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Act 1974, on February 19, by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Now the academy is functioning under the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Ordinance 1989.

The celebration started with the inauguration of a week-long exhibition at National Art Gallery, BSA, Dhaka. A discussion session, presided over by the Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, was arranged in the evening. K M Khalid, State Minister for Cultural Affairs, was present as the chief guest, while Badrul Arefin, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs was present as the special guest. Md Nawshad Hossain inaugurated the discussion with a welcome speech.

Apart from discussions, the event featured a cultural programme. Today's event in Dhaka will also feature a cultural programme together with an acrobatic show. Several renowned artistes are to take part in the celebration.

Celebrated artistes Syed Abdul Hadi, Momotaz Begum and Armeen Musa, Rachel Priyanka Perris and Shamim Ara Nipa along with her troupe Nrityanchal, Belayet Hossain, Tamanna Rahman, and Dipa Khandaker among others are performers at the event, hosted by Dalia Ahmed and Bhashwar Bandopadhyay.
