Asaduzzaman Noor turns 74 today

Asaduzzaman Noor is an icon in the television, theatre  film industries of Bangladesh. The actor's contributions in television, theatre, films and even politics are immense.

Today marks his 74th birthday. Born on October 31, 1946, the freedom fighter and former Cultural Minister began his journey as an actor with theatre, and eventually gained fame through television and films.

Noor became a nationwide favourite with his role as Baker Bhai in Humayun Ahmed's "Kothao Keu Nei."

Another television show that added to his formidable reputation was "Ayomoy", helmed by Humayun Ahmed. Appearing as Chhoto Mirza, the actor won critical acclaim for his role. "This is one of my most favourite roles and I poured my heart onto the character," shares Asaduzzaman Noor.

Another acclaimed Humayun Ahmed production, "Bohubrihi," cemented Noor's name as a household favourite with his character, Anis.

Nandail's Yunus from "Maatir Pinjirar Majhe Bondi Hoiya" in 1991, is also one of the many memorable characters he portrayed on television. Directed by Nawazish Ali Khan, the show went on to be a milestone in Noor's career.

 Noor's portrayal of Mona in the tele-fiction "Nimful", directed by Humayun Ahmed, explored the versatility of  Noor's talent, as he portrayed the role of a dacoit.

Another acclaimed BTV production, "Jononi," presented Noor in the role of a village singer, earning him much praise.

Noor's portrayal of an unemployed man Rafiq, in the acclaimed show, "Eishob Din Ratri", explored the sadness and despair of the unemployed population of our country.

His contribution to Bangladesh's showbiz also extends to films, including his phenomenal performance as a freedom fighter in the Liberation War film, "Aguner Poroshmoni".

 Noor began his journey as an actor with theatre. Debuting with Nagorik Natyasampradaya's "Baki Itihaash," he went on to portray powerful characters on the stage. He also made his mark as a director with the play, "Dewan Gazir Kissa," one of the most popular theatre plays in Dhaka.

"I have been invested in my work throughout my life, as I believe life is all about our work and contributions," expresses the artiste. "Life means being happy with the ones you love and the real satisfaction of life comes through love."
