Artpro International Video Art Festival in the offing

Artpro International Video Art Festival (AIVAF) 2019 will take place at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from November 22 to 29. An open call, seeking artists from all over the world is now underway and will conclude on August 1.

Presented by Artpro Art Initiative, the festival will include workshops, seminars and a contemporary art exhibition showcasing thematic, conceptual and experimental video art and film in Bangladesh.

“Our aim is to promote and represent international contemporary video art to live audiences in Dhaka in the annual festival,” said Ashim Halder Sagor, visual artist and founder, Artpro Art Initiative.

The international festival dreams of establishing itself as an open space that will inspire experimentation, exploration and critical examination of the latest trends in the contemporary art world.

“Contemporary art has reached great heights, while Bangladeshi artists have much potential, as they are doing well in the global art scene,” added Sagor, “hoping to see Bangladesh in the leading position, while establishing a shared space for contemporary video arts and artists globally.”

AIVAF’s fundamental aim is to provide talented artists with the opportunity to introduce themselves to a broader audience, and to advance their artistic career creating a networking platform within South Asia with various artists, gallerists, critics and collectors.

Artpro is an artist-run and Dhaka-based non-profit art organisation, which aims to promote multiple art-related notions into a promotional platform, where artists can innovate and research with challenging art projects. It is committed to go a long way with contemporary art projects collaborating with both local and international artists.
