Artistes join hands with 'Where is Kajol?' movement on day 4

Prachyanat perform 'Who is Next!'

The second edition of Kajoler Mukti Ebong Mukto Chinta movement expresses the creative strength of the protests, through participation of renowned artistes and cultural activists.

On the fourth day of the campaign, popular theatre troupe Prachyanat presented a group performance of the act Who is Next!

A powerful rendition of Samuel Beckett's play Waiting for Godot! Was performed by two renowned theatre personalities, Samina Luthfa Nitra and Reetu Sattar.

Both acts depicted Shafiqul Islam Kajol's present situation. His son, Monorom Polok, expressed his grief over his father's deteriorating health. "I have been protesting over 165 days for my father's life, and now for his freedom", says Polok. "My father is in jail and badly need medical attention, and is having mental and physical breakdown inside the jail without proper treatment. My whole family is having episodes of emotional meltdown."

On the fifth day, a group music performance by Indrani Soma from Charon Shangskritik Kendra will be held live at 7 pm from the movement's Facebook page. The session will be hosted by Salman Siddiqi, Advisor, Siren Shahittyo Potrika.

Theatre group BotTala will present Ekushey Ayeen at 9:30 pm. Scripted by Kazi Roksana Ruma, performers for this session are Nazifa Tasnim Khanam Tisha, Mohammad Ali Haider, Oleander Rima Baroi, Kazi Roksana Ruma, Chandrabati Eva, Eva Afrose Khan, and Kazi Shams Tathoi.

There will be another performance by several rappers at 10 pm. Hosted by Shehzad Chowdhury, participating rappers are SadmAnn GreenCoast, Banglar Bagh, Jalali Shafayat, and Mohidul Tamim.

Meanwhile, Polok urges those who can to join him tomorrow (August 23) at the protest to be held at Central Shaheed Minar at 4 pm, taking all the necessary safety precautions against Covid-19.
