Actor Mujibur Rahman Dilu passes away

Freedom fighter and actor Mujibur Rahman Dilu passed away at around 6:40 am today, at the capital's United Hospital. The news was confirmed by his son, Ayon Rahman. He was suffering from multiple health problems, including lung infection. His condition was critical. Although he tested negative for Covid-19, he had severe pneumonia.

Dilu, who has been away from the limelight for a while, fell critically ill on January 12. He was eventually admitted to the ICU at United Hospital on January 15. Earlier, he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome and fell into a coma in 2005.

Dilu, a television and stage actor, director, theatre activist and playwright, was lauded for his performance as Malu in the hit television series, "Songsoptok".

His notable plays include "Tathapi" and "Somoy Asomoy", among others.

The actor's first namaz-e-janaza will take place at Central Mosque, University of Dhaka, stated his son.

His body will also be kept at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from 3 pm. Then, he will be honoured with a ceremonial guard and buried at the  Banani graveyard after Asr prayers.
