Actor Mujibur Rahman Dilu in ICU; family requests PM for support

Freedom fighter and actor Mujibur Rahman Dilu was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at United Hospital in the capital recently. He is suffering from multiple health problems, including lung infection. His condition is critical. However, he tested negative for Covid-19. Doctors have given him plasma therapy. His son, Ayon Rahman, confirmed the news to The Daily Star.

"My father is not only an actor, but also a freedom fighter. We earnestly request our honourable Prime Minister to provide us with financial help for my father's further treatment. He needs two other therapy sessions, which will cost around BDT 4 to 5 lakhs, in addition to the hospital bills," said Ayon.

Dilu, who has been away from the limelight for a while, fell critically ill on January 12. He was eventually admitted to the ICU at United Hospital yesterday.

He was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome and fell into a coma in 2005. His condition gradually improved.

Dilu was lauded for his performance as Malu in the hit TV series, "Sangsaptak".
