15 years of cinematic excellence

Marking their 15th anniversary, Star Cineplex, a pioneer for premiering blockbusters in Bangladesh, launched their third outlet through a festive celebration. Located at SKS Tower in Mohakhali, the multiplex has a collective of three halls inside the facility. Equipped with full and half reclining seats, paired seats, silver screens, Dolby Atmos surround sound systems and many other amenities, the new venture seems promising.

Upon arriving at the premises of SKS Tower, the guests wrote congratulatory messages for the Star Cineplex family on a large whiteboard. The celebration started off with a brilliant performance by the instrumental band, The Seesaw Quartet. It was followed by a welcome address by Mahboob Rahman, Chairman of ShowMotion Limited (Star Cineplex). Mahboob Rahman’s father, Engr Mosharraf Hossain, MP, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Public Works and Housing, and his mother, Ayesha Sultana, graced the occasion with their presence. Actors Tariq Anam Khan and Zahid Hasan and director Fakhrul Arefeen Khan, among others, conveyed their best wishes to Star Cineplex in their speeches.

“Now that we have our third outlet in Mohakhali, we hope that movie lovers will not have to battle as much traffic, when they plan to watch movies with their friends and loved ones,” said Mahboob Rahman. “Star Cineplex is also venturing into production with No Dorai, a film based on the life of a female surfer in Cox’s Bazar, which will be out on November 29. We hope that the audience will like the movie.” 

Furthermore, a fashion show, supported by Persona and Bishwo Rang, was arranged at the event. The guests applauded for Sharmili Ahmed, Shampa Reza, Rozina, Mou, Ferdous, Toma Mirza, Masuma Rahman Nabila, Nipun and Nirab, among others, as they walked the ramp. Kaniz Almas Khan, CEO and Managing Director of Persona, and Biplob Saha, the owner of Bishwo Rang, were also present.

Popular faces of the entertainment world, including Salauddin Lavlu, Shakib Khan, Bappy Chowdhury, Symon Sadik, Jannatul Ferdous Peya and Xefer, among others, were also a part of the celebration. Hosted by Tasnim Zaman from ShowMotion Limited, the evening also had a cake-cutting ceremony.

Towards the end, the guests were served dinner and invited to screenings of Zombieland:

Double Tap and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
