More elderly characters should be written for television: Azam Khan

Azam Khan is a banker by profession and an actor by passion. He debuted on television with "The Hero". He is featured in Raihan Rafi's film, "Damaal" and Khijir Hayat Khan's film, "The 7".

"From an early age, I was involved in cultural activities such as debates, anchoring programmes, and theatre.  Later on, I pursued my career in marketing and communications which lead me to participate in various talk shows. I had a good relationship with ATN Bangla who helped me to follow my dreams in showbiz," mentioned the actor.

While juggling between the two careers- Azam Khan spends most of his time in shooting by working at nights. The actor is willing to sacrifice his personal time to fulfill his thirst in acting.

Azam Khan had a packed schedule this Eid where he had to work in 15 projects all together. Among which Md Nurul Islam's "Bhaggo" will be shown at ATN Bangla, Amitabh Ahmed Rana and Subatra Mitra's "Ghunpokar Galpa" on Maasranga TV, among others.

Azam Khan who mostly played father figures on -screen wants to portray negative character in films.

"Apart from playing father figures, I have played the role of an industrialist, and a politician, among others. My directors feel that there is a softness in my appearance and try to give me positive characters. However, as an artiste, I believe that playing negative characters would help expand my potential," said Azam Khan.

 "The series 'Shokal Shondha' followed the story of a family. Nowadays, we do have family shows but they are almost always based on the lead couples. More elderly characters should be written for television. There are hardly any varied roles for parents to play in fictions," he added.
