Sitarist Niladri Kumar to perform in Dhaka

Blues Communications organising “A Voyage of Strings”

Eclectic sitar player Niladri Kumar, who has made a name for himself in Indian fusion and film music, is all set to perform in Dhaka later this month. The concert, titled “A Voyage of String”, is being organised by Blues Communications and will take place on July 21 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. Tabla player Vijay Ghate will accompany Niladri at the concert.

Niladri Kumar is best known as a fusion artiste for his amazing skills of combining classical notes or rhythms with the new age taste of music. One of Niladri's specialties lie in the zitar – a modified version of the sitar with reduced number of frets, 5 strings instead of 20, and an added electric pickup. The unique instrument that fuses the guitar and sitar, has allowed him to sway from classical genres to even rock, electronic, and lounge genres. The multi-award winning musician has worked and performed in collaboration with notable musicians including Ustad Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, AR Rahman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and many more.

Details of tickets for the show will be available soon on the Facebook Page of Blues Communications.
