Season's greetings from Joler Gaan

Collectors' “Gaaner Khata” to be released

Urban folk-fusion group Joler Gaan has been in immense demand among fans – whether it is live performances, album release or TV shows, and the band has always been generous to their fans.

The band's front-man Rahul Ananda made another exciting announcement recently, of releasing a special-edition “Gaaner Khata” (songbook) of the band, prompting much interest among the band's following.

Rahul posted on Facebook of the upcoming release, which will contain both their albums “Otol Joler Gaan” and “Patalpurer Gaan”, and a songbook with lyrics and musical chords of all their songs, adding that it could make a lovely Boishakhi gift.

About the release, percussionist of the band Saiful Islam Jarnal said the idea came from the fact that music CDs are only bought as novelty items these days, so the band decided to package it in a special manner for the fans.

Also, many musicians and listeners had asked for the chords of the songs, so the songbook is for them to practice.

The songbook has a few pages at the end left blank for the collector to write their own songs or thoughts, Jarnal said.

He also informed that the set will be available very soon at outlets of Jatra and Deshal for a very modest price of 100
taka, while fans outside Dhaka can also collect it by post.
