US-based music service for smartphones, Yonder Music, launched in Bangladesh on Tuesday, in association with telecom operator Robi. With it, Robi aims to provide a total music experience that combines exclusive content from famous local artistes with the rich libraries of local labels, along with a comprehensive collection of international major labels and independent music.

The highlight of the launch event is a live performance of the Robi Yonder Music launch song “Bojre”, produced by Arnob, and performed by a Robi Yonder All-Star line-up that includes Habib, Arnob, Bappa, Kona, Pantha Kanai, Elita, Chirkutt, Nemesis, Balam, Hridoy Khan and many others. A video of the song, a Tagore classic, was also released, featuring a number of leading popular artistes. A number of other big names of the country's music scene, including Ayub Bachchu, James, Hamin Ahmed and Shafin Ahmed were also in attendance.

The Robi Yonder Music Service will be available for free to users, with no application charges, no subscription fees and no per-track download charges. It will only require an active Robi data plan on their cellphones -- to access a vast library of digital music on any data network, even on Wi-Fi.

The service also promises to respect and celebrate the Intellectual Property Rights of artistes and composers, by paying them in direct proportion to the number of times their content is played on the app.

The service will have exclusive releases from the 'all-star' artiste lineup, starting with collaboration between Chirkut and 24-Horas, a leading US based Bachata-pop group, as well as albums and singles by many of the Robi Yonder All-Stars, some of them featuring collaboration with international artistes.
