Remembering Abdul Alim

Today (September 5) marks the 41st death anniversary of eminent folk singer Abdul Alim who took Bangla folk music to greater heights. His first recorded song came out when he was only 13 in 1943. He recorded 500 songs for many films including the first Bangla movie “Mukh O Mukhosh”.

Satellite channel ATN Bangla will air a special musical programme “O Jaar Apon Khobor” at 8:30am. Abdul Alim's two sons -- Jahir Alim and Asgar Alim -- will render popular songs originally recorded by their father. The programme will also feature a discussion on the life and work of the Marami singer. Renowned lyricist Mohammad Rafiquzzaman will host the programme, directed by Selim Doula Khan.
