Pt. Tejendra N. Majumdar's “Sarod-e Rabindra Sangeet” Unveiled

An instrumental album titled “Sarod-e Rabindra Sangeet” by Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar was launched yesterday at the main auditorium of Chhayanaut. It is produced by Bengal Foundation. Eminent artist Mustafa Monwar pointed out the aesthetic realm of Rabindra Sangeet at the event.

The album contains eight tracks featuring recitals of Rabindra Sangeet on sarode by the music maestro. Tagore admirers will find records of popular Tagore songs including Prothom Adi Tobo Shokti, Aji Joto Tara, Aji Bijon Ghar-e, Neel Anjanghano, Je Chhilo Amar Swapnacharini and Mor Beena Othey in the album.   

Following the launching ceremony, Majumdar performed scores from the album. 

Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar is a distinguished sarod artiste from India. Majumdar is known to combine the intellectual density and technical virtuosity of his gharana with that of dhrupad, tantrakari, as well as gayaki styles of music. He was awarded the President's Gold Medal, Pandit D V Paluskar Award, Sangeet Mahasamman, and the Banga Bhushan, to name a few. He has made his mark in the film industry and gained recognition as a music director. His album, “Soul Call - Om Namo Narayanaya” was nominated for a Grammy in 2010.
