RHCP in the land of the pharaohs

The area around the great pyramids of Giza lit up recently as American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers took to the stage to entertain an audience of 10,000 present at the venue, with many more tuning in on a live stream. The band performed hit numbers like Can't Stop, Californication, Dark Necessities and others, to entertain fans who travelled from 67 countries to attend the concert.

The concert was promoted by Egypt's tourism ministry in an attempt to regenerate its reputation as a prime destination for travelers, especially after the 2011 uprising and years of subsequent turmoil which scared off numerous tourists. Many legendary artistes, including the likes of Frank Sinatra, The Grateful Dead, Scorpions and Yanni have performed earlier at the ancient site, which is also one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Red Hot Chili Peppers is currently on a world tour and they are also working to complete their 12th album.
