Since her Channel i Shera Kontho days, Somnur Monir Konal has been taking Bangladesh’s music industry by storm. Recently, the celebrated singer collaborated with Kolkata-based music director and singer Lincon for the song, ‘Agun Lagailo’, from the Malek Afsary film, ‘Password,’ starring Shakib Khan and Bubly. The song was well received by the audience upon its release. Konal opens up about making the song, her views on the music faternity and more.

How did you come across the song, ‘Agun Lagailo’?

Usually, I sing melodious, romantic numbers, so, getting to work on a party song like Agun Lagailo was a bit nerve-wrecking for me. Party songs require a certain level of energy and panache. I am truly grateful to Shakib Khan, the lead actor and the producer of Password, for having faith in me and for giving me the opportunity to try something new.

How do you feel about the success of the song?

Ever since the release, I have been bombarded with videos of my fans and well-wishers on social media, in which they were singing and dancing to the song. I am delighted to see that the audience is appreciating Agun Lagailo. It is an unexpected hit.

Who are some of your inspirations in the music industry?

I am inspired by every musician in the industry because I believe that they have all worked really hard to reach great heights in their respective careers. But if you want me to name a few artistes, Elita Apu, Kona Apu and Bappa Da are three people who inspire me the most.

What were your plans for Eid-ul-Fitr this year?

I was at home on Eid, mainly because of the rain. I watched several television shows and spent time with my close friends. I am also looking forward to watching Password soon.
