Julie Andrews receives lifetime achievement award at Venice Film Festival

“I’m still amazed, I’ve been a lucky girl who got to play beautiful roles,” added the 83 year old actor.

Julie began her career as a child in London’s West End before she made it to New York’s Broadway, and rose to stardom with musicals such as My Fair Lady and Camelot.

The talented actor won an Oscar for Mary Poppins in 1965, and a nomination for her role as governess Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music. She made a comeback in 2001 with the film Princess Diaries. Julie also lent her voice for hit animations Shrek and Despicable Me.

The festival also screened the film Victor Victoria, in honour of Julie Andrews.
