Bengal’s Eid albums out now

Marking the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, Bengal Foundation has brought four new Eid albums. Recorded by prominent and promising singers of Bangladesh and India, the albums feature Tagore songs, Kabial Bijoy Sarkar’s Islamic numbers, Sursagar Himangshu Dutta compositions and several semi classical genres from Benaras Gharana.

Late singer Saiful Islam’s solo album Mormer Majhey is a treat to the Islamic song aficionados as the artiste recorded several selected numbers including Nabi Naam-er Nouka, Juale Mormer Majhey and Tomar Ekti Din-er Ektu Porosh. Recorded in Lalon Academy, Manab Mukherjee directed musical arrangement for the album.

Renowned Nazrul singer Sharmin Sathi Islam Moyna can be heard singing Sursagar Himangshu Dutta compositions like Raat-er Moyur Chhoralo Je Pakha, Chhilo Chand Megher Parey and Chand Kohe, Chameli Go in the album Chameli Tomari Chand. Noted Indian musician Durbadal Chattopadhyay arranged music for the album.

Sohini Mukhopadhyay Pola’s solo album Kahar Tore has Tagore songs like Ami Nishidin Tomaye Bhalobashi, Pushpabon-e Pushpa Nahi and Tobu Mone Rekho. Pola is blessed to have acquired musical lessons from her aunt, legendary singer Kanika Banerjee. Durbadal Chattopadhyay directed the musical arrangement for the album.

Promising classical music vocalist Suchisree Ray recorded several semi classical genres like Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti and Kajri of Benaras Gharana for her latest album An Ode to Benaras.
