MASUDA ANAM releases three albums

Renowned singer Masuda Anam Kalpona released three new solo albums yesterday, on the last day of the year. The albums were launched in a ceremony at Biswa Sahitya Kendra.

Two of the albums are of Nazrul Sangeet – titled “Jani Pabo Na Tomaye” and “Usha Elo Chupi Chupi”, while the other album is of her original 'adhunik' songs, titled “Krishnochura”.

Noted Nazrul Sangeet exponent Sadya Afreen Mallick launched the two Nazrul albums at the event, while eminent composer Anup Bhattacharya launched the other album, “Krishnochura”. Bhattacharya also arranged music for three tracks of the album.

Kalpona, an established exponent of Nazrul songs, performs regularly in radio and television. She is also an instructor of Nazrul songs at Chhayanaut.

“My goal, as always, is to ensure that we continue to nurture and sustain the rich Bengali musical tradition for the young generation,” Kalpona said. “This is an important part of our cultural tradition, an essential part of who we are.”

Kalpona received musical training from several musical stalwarts including Anjali Roy, Sohrab Hossain, Sudhin Das, Selina Hossain, Asit Dey and noted Indian Hindustani music expert Ustad Saghiruddin Khan.

The albums were released under the banner of Laser Vision.
