Mahbuba Rahman releases her evergreen songs

Though she is not in the music scene for a long time, veteran singer Mahbuba Rahman captured many hearts in the 1950s and 1960s with her golden voice. She made her mark in radio, television and films and received accolades, particularly for her debut playback in the first Bangla film made in erstwhile East Pakistan, “Mukh O Mukhosh” (1956).

Recently, Mahbuba Rahman released an album titled “Mahbuba Rahman er Kaaljoyee Gaan” under Laser Vision, featuring some of her most memorable tracks. All the songs in the album have been penned and composed by Khan Ataur Rahman and Samar Das.

The album, containing two CDs, packs 20 songs. Some of the notable songs are “Amar Mon Bhalo Na”, “Ar Kotokal Thakborey”, “Pakhi Uira Jayre”, “Amar Golar Haar”, “Tomake Bhalobeshe”, “Oi Chaand”, “Nirala Raatey” and more.

Mahbuba Rahman was the voice behind a number of big hits like “Agun Jalaish Na Amar Gaye” from the film “Saat Bhai Champa”, adhunik song “Amar Mon Bhalo Na Go Pran Bhalo Na”, “Moner Bon-e Dola Lagey” from the film “Shurjo Snan” and “Amar Golar Har” from the film “Aasia”.

Not only that, the singer also lent her voice to several Nazrul Sangeet, bhajan, kirtan and folk songs.

In recognition to her contribution as an artiste, she received the Ekushey Padak (1998) and the Golden Jubilee Film Audience award (2006) for Best Singer.

The album came out recently under the banner of Laser Vision.
