IGCC organises classical music soiree at Chhayanaut

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) organised an evening of Hindustani classical vocal music performance by Meghodeepa Gangopadhaya (from Kolkata, India) at Chhayanaut Auditorium in Dhanmondi Dhaka on December 8.

Meghodeepa set off the event with a khyal based on Raga Maru Behag. The singer later presented a madhyalaya tintaal bandish and a drut ektaal bandish based on Raga Rageshree. The artiste wrapped up the soiree with a Manjh Khamaj thumri.

In 2010, Meghodeepa was awarded the first prize for khyal in an all India competition organised by the Dover Lane Music Conference in Kolkata.
