'Concert for Fighters' at DU today

Maqsood O' Dhaka, Meghdol, Krishnokoli and others to perform

A touring concert preceded today's main event.

An open-air concert paying tribute to poet-musician-journalist-cultural activist Sanjeeb Chowdhury will be held today at the Raju Sculpture near TSC of Dhaka University. A number of indie bands and musicians are performing in the concert that begins at 2pm. Maqsood O' Dhaka, Meghdol, Kafil Ahmed, Pothik Nabi, Krishnokoli, Shayan, Sohojiya, Madol, Shohortoli, Somogeet, Chitkar, Monoshoroni, Leela, Gaanpoka, Sina Hasan and indigenous girls' band F Minor are on the concert lineup.

The concert is free and without any sponsors, with organisers raising funds through selling of posters, t-shirts and stickers. The first 'Concert for Fighters' was held in 2005.

A 'Road to Concert for Fighters' touring concert have been going on since November, starting at TSC and taking place so far in CUET, Jahangirnagar University, Sylhet, Jagannath University, Bangladesh Agricultural University and Robindro Sarobar.

A part of the raised funds will be donated to the Santal community of Gobindoganj, who suffered from communal violence in recent months.
