CHIRKUTT FASCINATES CU STUDENTS

Chittagong University (CU) students were fascinated with the songs performed by renowned musical band Chirkutt at The Daily Star-Standard Chartered Celebrating Life programme held at the university's Social Science Faculty auditorium on Tuesday.

The small auditorium of Social Science Faculty filled up of enthusiastic students much before the scheduled start of the event. The concert opened with the song “Balobashle Keno Khida Payna”, and the audience gave rounds of applause when the popular band presented their hit song “Bondhu Go”. The band also performed their other hits “Jadur Shohor”, “Prothom Preme Morey Jabar Gaan”, as the audience joined in chorus. 

They also debuted a song from their upcoming album, titled “Hajar Bochor Dhore”, the lyrics of which won the prize in the Celebrating Life contest 2015. Latter, on request from the audience, they performed “Ekta Chera Din” and “Tarunno”.  

They finished their performance with the song “Kanamachi”, soundtrack from the film “Television”.

As part of the programme, a photography exhibition was also held at CU Social Science Faculty premises, where works by 33 photographs from the 'Celebrating Life 2015' contest were exhibited. 

CU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the day-long programme. Star Showbiz Editor Rafi Hossain, who is the Celebrating Life Festival Director, delivered the welcome speech.  

The joint initiative of The Daily Star and Standard Chartered Bank began started nine years back with an aim to capture the beauty of Bangladesh through films, photography and lyrics, by bringing out talented artists in the field from all across Bangladesh, under the title Celebrating Life.
