Chhayanaut's Pahela Boishakh celebrations continue

Marking the golden jubilee of Chhayanaut's celebrating Pahela Boishakh, artistes of the country's leading cultural school organised the second of a series of programmes at its main auditorium on March 31. The programme featured recitation of poems, rendition of songs and recital of dance. A memorial exhibition highlighting Chhayanaut's 50 year-long journey of celebrating Pahela Boishakh was also inaugurated.

Artistes of the organisation set off the programme with a choral musical piece followed by several other choral songs -- “Ebar Tor Mora Gangey”, “Mora Jhonjhar Moto Uddam”, “Lakho Lakho Shaheed-er Roktey Makha” and “Kolo Kolo Chholo Chholo”, composed by Tagore, Nazrul, Abdul Latif and AKM Abdul Aziz respectively. Set on Tagore's original songs and  gaan, several artistes presented group dances at the event.

Several promising singers sang solo numbers composed by Panchokobi (five major poets of Bengali Literature).

Bikram Das performed a Tagore song “Mor Beena Othey” while Sutapa Saha rendered a DL Roy song “Jibontato Dekha Gelo”, Shukla Paul Setu offered a Rajanikanta song “Ami Akriti Adhom” and Latifun Julio performed an Atul Prasad song “Ami Jabo Na, Jabo Na”.

Nabonita Chakrabarty, Rezaul Karim and Nahian Doordana Shuchi performed Kazi Nazrul Islam's compositions --“Kaberi Nadi Jol-e”, “Nadir Srot-e Malar Kushum” and Dokkhin Samiron Sathey” at the event.

Elocutionists -- Sumona Biswas and Rafiqul Islam -- recited “Chirojatri and “Probortok-er Ghurchakaye”, penned by Tagore and Nazrul respectively.
