BSA's classical music & dance fest begins today

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is organising a three-day classical music and dance festival at the main auditorium of its National Theatre Hall, featuring performances by established and promising vocalists, instrumentalists and dancers.

The programme will be inaugurated at 6pm this evening by Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor. BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky will preside over the session, where secretary to the Cultural Affairs Ministry Ibrahim Hossain Khan will also be present as special guest.

The festival will open with a choral vocal khyal rendition of Raga Malkauns by students of Government Music College. The festival will also feature performances by Asit Royu (dhrupad vocals), Soumita Bose (pakhwaj), Sharmila Bandopadhyay (Manipuri dance), Rachel Priyanka Perris (Gaudiya dance), Reenat Fauzia (sitar), Firoz Khan (sitar), Nurul Haq (santoor), Priyanka Gope (khyal and thumri vocals), Swani Zubayeer (thumri vocals), Dr. Fakir Shahidul Islam (khyal vocals), Saiful Islam (khyal vocals), Md. Moniruzzaman (flute) and members of Nrityanchal (Kathak dance).
