Bappa’s tribute to the National Poet

For the first time in his illustrious career, Bappa Mazumder recorded a Nazrul Sangeet, titled Meghero Damru, on the occasion of Nazrul Jayanti. The singer, who is adept at different genres of Bangla music, was very excited for the project. “I was a little nervous when I set out to arrange this song, as this is not my field of expertise,” says Bappa,“However, this song was taught to me by my late mother. It holds a very special place in my heart.” Renowned actor and dancer Nadia Ahmed stars in the breathtaking video, where she shows off her immaculate classical dancing skills. “I was always a huge fan of Bappa da,” she says, “and my answer was an instant yes when I got to know about the project.

Since my background is in classical dance, Meghero Damru was a perfect fit for me. It feels amazing to star in the music video of my favourite singer.” The video, directed by Nirob Siam, was shot in Sutrapur of Old Dhaka. The song is now available on Bappa Mazumder’s official YouTube channel.
