Kazi Nazrul Islam recalled in Pabna

The 118th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was observed amidst festivity in Pabna. A cultural programme, titled 'Jatra Pather Anada Gaan' at the Pabna town hall premise on Friday was organised by Ekushey Boi Mela Udzapan Parishad, Pabna.

Pabna district administration also organised a discussion about the life and work of Nazrul on Thursday afternoon.

President of Ekushey Boi Mela Udzapan Parishad Zakir Hossain chaired the discussion while researcher Habibur Rahman Shopon and poet Mokhlesur Rahman discussed the life and work of Nazrul Islam at the programme.

“Kazi Nazrul Islam is the poet of love and rebellion. His writings inspire people to fight against injustice,” the speakers said.

Local Nazrul artistes Ostad Abul Hasem, Pradip Kumar Das, Bankesh Sharkar, Shafik Uddin Ahmed, Poroj Chowdhury, Maliha Mahabub performed popular songs of the bard on the occasion.
