Kamar wins Asian Pitch for 2nd time

Writer-Director Kamar Ahmad Simon has been declared as a winner for the second time in the 9th edition of Asian Pitch, held in Singapore. The competition is organised every year by four leading Asian televisions channels (NHK from Japan, KBS from South Korea, PTS from Taiwan and Mediacorp from Singapore), where ideas for original documentaries by Asian filmmakers are awarded. This year Kamar won the award for his new docu-drama script titled "Neel Shirostran" (Blue Helmet), and as for the award the four channels will be funding for the entire production. As a winning script, all four broadcasters will also screen the film in their prime-time slots and do the international marketing-distribution once the film is completed.

In reaction Kamar shared, "Winning for the second time in Asia Pitch certainly is a matter of joy. But with any win, expectation rises. But I am enjoying this."

In 2013 Kamar was a winner for his script titled "Ekti Sutar Jobanbondi" (Testimony of a Thread). It was highly acclaimed after being screened in NHK this June and is scheduled to be screened on the other three channels later this year.
