James Cameron

James Cameron, one of the most successful filmmakers of all time (with “Titanic” and “Avatar”), invented a new generation stereo imaging camera, and along with his brother, earned five patents from the equipment that they designed to film underwater for the movie “The Abyss”.

Part-scientist, part-artist Cameron reached the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean, in the Deepsea Challenger submersible that he designed. He is the first person to do this in a solo descent, and is only the third person to do so ever.
