National award winning actor Shakib Khan is undoubtedly one of a kind among his peers. Still standing strong in the film industry, the Dhaliwood king has garnered immense praise for his versatile roles on the silver screen. He talks about his latest projects, his thoughts on the film industry and more.

What film are you currently shooting for?

We are working on Shahenshah. Some segments of the film have been filmed in Dhaka, and right now, we are shooting the rest in Pubail. I am very excited about the project.

For years, you've held the title of Dhaliwood's 'King'. How do you feel about it?

The credit for this does not go to me alone. I have been very fortunate and I am grateful.  I have come this far because of my fans. Without them, my work would be meaningless.

What are your thoughts on the film industry today?

To tell you the truth, we are facing a lot of difficulties. The number of films released each year is dwindling, which is a far cry from how things were before. It is a grave concern for everyone working in the industry.

What do you feel is the solution to this problem?

I feel that no one should stop a film from being released once it reaches the censor board. There are a few individuals who like to create trouble, and that should stop. This is disheartening to producers, who spend a huge amount of money behind their work. If they hear that their films are being stopped from releasing after all the investments, they won't be so inclined anymore to make more movies.

Your recent film project in West Bengal became a hit; could you tell us more about that?

As an actor who takes pride in being a Bangladeshi, working in Bangladeshi films, this recent development has made me immensely happy. International recognition is a great asset for our country, and I'm happy to play a role in that.

What kind of films do you hope to do moving forward?

I plan things diligently, or else I would not have been able to move forward. All I can say now is that I keep seeking good opportunities for making movies.
