Jaya Ahsan talks 'Debi'

Jaya Ahsan, who has captured the hearts of millions with her incredible performances on film and television over the years, has many hit projects under her belt. An ardent fan of Humayun Ahmed's 'Debi,' she fills in the shoes of Ranu and also makes her debut as a producer in the film adaptation of the novel. 'Debi' hits theatres today.

The marketing team of Debi has left no stone unturned to generate buzz about it.   How did you come up with the promotional tactics for the film?

I think promotion is an integral part of any film and our team has worked really hard to promote Debi in creative ways. I am also grateful to the media, without their support, we would not have come this far.

Speaking of creative tactics, you became a news presenter to promote the film recently. How was the experience?

It was a completely new experience. I have to admit I was nervous before doing it. But I really did not expect such a great reaction from everyone.

Do you think adapting Humayun Ahmed's novel for the big screen has helped Debi garner more attention?

I think so. This is the first time Misir Ali will be seen in a film, which is why I think the fans of Humayun Ahmed are excited. The film will also introduce Misir Ali to those who are not familiar with the novels.

How was the experience of being a producer on the sets of Debi?

I do not think I have worked any differently this time just because I am a producer too. I have always worked with compassion, and this time was no different.

Would you like to convey any message to the viewers?

I believe the viewers are the ultimate inspiration behind any film. Debi will only be a success if the audience loves it. I hope people enjoy watching it in theatres.
