“I feel privileged to be a part of Bangladeshi films”

– Rituparna Sengupta

Celebrated actor and producer Rituparna Sengupta is known for her work in the film industry of Kolkata, India and Bangladesh. She has garnered much appreciation from viewers for her versatile roles on the silver screen. She has two upcoming Bangladeshi projects, for which she was recently in Dhaka.

You are working on Bangladeshi films after quite some time. How does it feel?

Cinema plays a central role in my life and this country is really close to my heart so I feel privileged to be a part of Bangladeshi films. We just had the mahurat for Noyeem Imtiaz Neamul's Gangchil. Ferdous is my co-star in the film and I am excited to be working with him since he is also a dear friend.

What can you tell us about your character in 'Gangchil'?

I won't be revealing any spoilers about my character just yet! All I can say is that I play a well-rounded character named Bijli. I hope both the film and my character entertain the audience. I will be coming back to Dhaka next month for shooting the film.

Can you reveal any details about the second movie you will be filming in Bangladesh?

The second film is called Jam, produced under Manna's production house, Kritanjali Kothachitra. I think it will be a great experience.

What do you like the most about Dhaka?

I think the people of Dhaka are really loving and hospitable. I also love the food here. Aside from some shopping, unfortunately, I did not get an opportunity to explore the city on this short visit.
