“I don’t even step out of my house”— Siam Ahmed

Siam Ahmed

Siam Ahmed, one of the busiest actors of the industry, started his career with television and gradually made way into films. He has garnered legions of adoring fans with his unparalleled performances in a short time. Like all others, the actor has also been staying at home these days. In a candid chat with The Daily Star, the actor shares his recent indoor activities and upcoming releases.

Rumours say that you have opted for a new identity in the film industry. Is it true?

Absolutely! I have written the script for a film while being at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. The story has been on my mind for a while, but I never really had the time to work on it. As now I have no shoots, I finally turned it on a paper. However, I will need the expertise of a cinematographer and director to transform it into a film. I have also started writing another story and hopefully will finish it soon.

You have studied law. So, do you have any plans to practice it in the near future?

I did practice it for a while and was even associated with a law chamber. However, I don't like to take continuous leaves for shooting. Journeying on two boats on the same time is not my cup of tea. Thus, I am only focussing on my acting career for the time being.

You also run an event management company. How is it doing at this time?

We have shut down all operations due to the coronavirus pandemic. I have already cleared their salaries and currently, my whole team is on leave. My event management company mostly arranges weddings and now is not the time to organise such celebrations. But we will open once things get better.

How are you spending time these days? Do you go out?

I don't even step out of the house. Rather than risking by life by going out, I spend time reading books and watching movies. Currently, I am reading Humayun Ahmed's novel Opekkha. I have also been researching a bit on the criminal law of Bangladesh.

Have you resumed shooting for any of your upcoming projects?

For the last 3 months, I have been completely isolated from the outer world. Some producers have reached out to me with new scripts, but I have informed them that unless we are sure of the safety measures and hygiene, starting shoots will not be a good idea. So, we should wait some time before we start.

Many movies and tele-fictions are trying for OTT releases. Are you planning to release any films online?

Not really. All my films are waiting for theatrical releases. Once we are mobile, I think the audience will enjoy going to movie theatres as they have been bored due to the extended shutdown.
