Even the traffic police saluted me mistaking me for a real cop

...Samrat

Son of Nayak Raj Razzak, Samrat made his film debut in 2007. He never had to look over his shoulders again. Riding the wave of popularity, recently his movie “Cartridge” was released in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country. In a recent conversation, the actor spoke about the film and beyond.

When was your latest movie released?

Samrat: The film was released just a year after I appeared in the movie “Aina Kahini” directed by my father. I played the role of a cop in “Cartridge” made by my elder brother Bappa Raj.

How does it feel to act in your brother's directorial debut?

Samrat: Bappa Raj is a very modern director. After he had made “Cartridge”, everyone said that his film was a breath of fresh air for the audience. Raj Lakkhi Productions has always made social films but this time they tried to give it  a new edge.. I hope he will be a successful director in the near future.

Any memorable moments on the sets?

Samrat: A lot. Like, we had to reach the location within seven o'clock and for my character I had to don a police uniform. The interesting thing was that on the way to the sets many people, including the traffic police, saluted me, mistaking me for a  real cop.

You  have also directed TV plays?

Samrat: I  have tried my hand but only two were aired on Channel i and Maasranga.

Any plans to make films?

Samrat: As direction is very tough, I'm not looking at this for the moment.

Tell us about  your debut film?

Samrat:  “Ami Bachte Chai” was directed by my father and got a good response from the audience. Later, I became very busy with films.
