Greatest Showman on Earth pushed back

Fox has made several key changes to its release calendar, including pushing back musical biopic “The Greatest Showman on Earth”, starring Hugh Jackman as circus impresario PT Barnum, from Christmas 2016 to Christmas 2017.

Instead, director Tim Burton's “Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children” will open on December 25, 2016.

It's likely that “Greatest Showman on Earth”, directed by Michael Gracey, is being relocated in order to accommodate the next outing in Fox's “Wolverine” franchise, dated for March 3, 2017 and directed by James Mangold. Both movies are in pre-production.

Fox also dated three new films, including Bryan Cranston and James Franco comedy “Why Him?”, which will hit cinemas November 11, 2016. Set over the holidays, Cranston stars as a Midwestern dad who travels with his family to visit his college-aged daughter, only to find himself in a battle for her affections with her brash new tech billionaire boyfriend.

Supernatural horror film “The Other Side of the Door”, directed by Johannes Roberts, will open in cinemas February 26, 2016.

On January 13, 2017 Fox will unfurl “Hidden Figures”, directed by Ted Melfi. The period space-race drama is inspired by the real-life tale of a group of African-American female mathematicians who helped put astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

Friday's shuffling also involved two titles from Jeffrey Katzenberg's DreamWorks Animation. “Boss Baby” had been scheduled to open January 13, 2017, but now moves to March 10, 2017, a date previously belonging to DWA's “Captain Underpants”. Fox and DWA haven't announced a new date for “Captain Underpants”.
