The best of 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards 2019 took place recently in Los Angeles, with Black Panther and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel emerging as the top winners of the night.

The cast of Black Panther received the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, outshining other nominees.

Rami Malek walked away with the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Malek dedicated the award for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody to Mercury, as he did at the Golden Globes.

Glenn Close, meanwhile, won the trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her part in The Wife, in which she plays the under-celebrated spouse of a Nobel Prize-winning author.

Tom Hanks presented M*A*S*H TV star Alan Alda with a lifetime achievement award.

In television, Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel  swept the comedy categories, winning best ensemble while its stars Rachel Brosnahan and Tony Shalhoub took the best actress and best actor awards respectively. This Is Us, NBC's acclaimed comedy-drama, won best ensemble cast for a television drama.

The ceremony, hosted by actor Megan Mullally, also saw Killing Eve star Sandra Oh take home the trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
