Purnima back with a bang

Actress returning to big screen after four years

Four years have gone by since National Film Award-winning actress Purnima graced the big screen. Her last venture was the never-released “Chhaya Chobi”, helmed by Mohammad Mustafa, in which she paired up with Arifin Shuvo. Purnima remained active over the years, taking up modeling and hosting assignments, and appearing in TV ventures.

The actress is now set to make her much anticipated come back on the silver screen, in a film titled “Bhoboghure”. Helmed by Swapan Ahmed of “Lal Tip” fame, the director makes a return to the romantic backdrop of France in this venture, and Purnima is scheduled to depart the country later this month for filming.

“I always wanted to come back with a bang, and for that I need to work on a great film,” said Purnima, “this film is produced by Impress Telefilm, which was another motivation for me to choose the project. I am very happy with how things are going so far.”

The narrative shapes around the plight of a girl, played by Purnima, living alone in France with her mother. With a deceased father, and difficult prospects of finding a job, she struggles until her path crosses with a young man, giving her new hope. “'Bhoboghure' is not the story of one character; the male hero is just as integral to the story as the female protagonist,” Purnima added.

However it is unclear on whether Purnima will return to doing films regularly. “It's quite difficult to say at this stage, but it gives me great joy to make this return which is new and familiar at the same time.”

The actress is currently occupied with a cooking reality show, “Shera Radhuni”, for which shooting is still in gear. The programme is scheduled to air next year in January on Maasranga TV, where Purnima will appear as a judge. “Judging a cooking show is much challenging than it appears, but I am glad to be a part of it,” she said.

The artiste continues to surprise with her versatility. Only recently, the actress performed in a song duet with popular singer Imran, in a reality TV show aired on Channel i. “I don't sing regularly, but I enjoyed this so much that I am considering performing more in the future,” she said.

Aside from acting and singing, the actress had recently hosted the Meril Prothom Alo Awards, which has earned her even more anchoring offers in the time that followed.
