‘Saturday Afternoon’ to premiere at London and Munich

After making successful rounds at international film festivals in Moscow and Sydney, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s highly acclaimed directorial, ‘Saturday Afternoon’ or ‘Shonibar Bikel’, is now set to amaze audiences in Europe.

A Bangladesh-Germany joint production, produced by Jaaz Multimedia and Chabial, and co-produced by Tandem Productions (Germany), Shonibar Bikel will be screed at London’s renowned Barbican Centre on June 25 and at the Genesis Cinema two days later.

Shonibar Bikel has also been selected to compete for the CineCoPro Award at the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN (Munich International Film Festival) in Germany. According to the festival website, the 100,000-euro CineCoPro Award is the most generous award for German co-producers of international co-productions. It will be presented as part of a curated competition at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN 2019. As many as ten international co-productions involving German co-producers will compete for this unique prize in a special section of the programme.

Some other films contending for the award that will be presented on July 5 include, It Must Be Heaven, The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão and The Whistlers among others.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is scheduled to reach Munich on the 28th of this month to attend the festival, where Shonibar Bikel is slated to be screened from June 29 to July 1. The film, which won two independent jury awards at the Moscow International Film Festival this year, stars Zahid Hasan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Iresh Zaker, Mamunur Rashid, Nader Chowdhury, Intekhab Dinar, Gousul Alam Shaon, Palestinian actor Eyad Hourani, Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee and others.
