DOOB gets censor clearance in Bangladesh

Lyric video releases today

After a long wait, which included many battles fought and won, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's “Doob” (“No Bed of Roses”) finally got censor clearance in Bangladesh on August 8. An elated director Farooki informed The Daily Star yesterday that he could not be happier about the news. “I am thankful to the censor board and all the concerned authorities of the government. Your (the spectator's) support in the long-awaited time has kept up our spirits. I am happy to announce that the lyric video of the song “Aha Jibon”, recorded by Chirkutt, releases today,” said Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.

Premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival 2017, the film has already garnered international recognition. The Irrfan Khan-starrer India-Bangladesh co-production won the Kommersant Jury Prize at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival, where it was also in the main competition. Tisha plays the female lead in the film.

Rave reviews published by Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Screen Daily have poured in. Variety praises the film for its “assured and graceful direction” with a “sublime lead performance by Irrfan Khan” while Screen Daily stated, “Arresting visuals. Universally strong cast. Evocative music. Sensitive and nuanced film” in their reviews.
