‘Culture Initiatives’ begins their journey with the screening of Satyajit Ray Films

While the capital was getting drenched in the monsoon rain, film enthusiasts watched two of Ray's greatest creations Charulata and Kanchanjangha

A special film screening and discussion session took place on Saturday afternoon in the Daily Star Arts Precinct auditorium. The programme was designed and hosted by Sadya Afreen Mallick, Chief of Culture Initiatives, The Daily Star.

Dr Zakir Hossain Raju, Professor Media and Communication Department of Independent University, and filmmaker Akram Khan discussed the life and works of master filmmaker Satyajit Ray on the occasion of his 97th birthday anniversary this month.

Culture Initiatives is an innovative new platform of The Daily Star that was

recently launched to promote and help preserve the cultural heritage of Bangladesh through various projects and partnerships in art, theatre, dance, cinema and music amongst others.
