A Way to Break Beyond opens at AFD

The artworks in 'A Way to Break Beyond' are based on children diagnosed with autism, as well as the hope and the optimism of their parents.

Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) has organised a painting exhibition titled, A Way to Break Beyond by Salma Zakia Bristy in its La Galerie.

The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition will be held today. Nilu Rawshon Murshed, Chairperson, Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts and eminent artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma will attend the opening ceremony.

Salma Zakia Bristy was born in Comilla, Bangladesh. She finished her BFA in Printmaking from University of Dhaka. She also received the Grand Award in the 18th Asian Art Biennale, Bangladesh.

Children with autism are widely misunderstood by the majority of people in their surroundings, sometimes even by their parents during the initial stages. Unlike common people, they view the world from entirely different angles and their viewpoints might be worlds apart sometimes. Due to that, they are often subjected to be bullying. The artworks in A Way to Break Beyond are based on children diagnosed with autism, as well as the hopes and the optimism of their parents.

After the inaugural ceremony, the exhibition will be open to all till April 2. The visiting hours are Monday to Thursday from 3 pm to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday, 9 am to 12 noon and 5 pm to 8 pm, respectively. The venue remains closed on Sundays.
