'Rejected 2018 - Design Expo', an exhibition of rejected or underappreciated works of design enthusiasts, freelancers, professionals and students, took place at Drik Gallery last weekend. 37 designers from different backgrounds participated at the expo.

The event was initiated by Thinkdemy, a cross-disciplinary knowledge sharing platform. “Thinkdemy's vision is to create a platform which recognises talent and creativity. Through this event, we showcased unconventional projects and promoted the spirit of thinking without barriers,” said Onindo Ahmed, co-founder of Thinkdemy.

There were over 50 submissions in eight categories. The submissions included an augmented reality-based project, eco-friendly educational toys for children's development, architecture that connects people to nature, a platform for healing mental health issues, a cost-efficient alternative to traditional ambulances and many more creative ideas. Among all these creative ideas, eight were selected for the 'Thinkdemy Award for Design Excellence' by the eminent judges of the expo. The winners of this prestigious award are Muhammad Shafayet Hossain, Al Jubair Hossain, Nasrin Kalam Chowdhury, Zerina Khatun and Shahed Hasan, Chowdhury Raihan Uddin, Sumaiya Fariha, Farhana Sikder and her team and Arefin Chisty.

Some more creative ideas received honourable mentions and each exhibitor was certified by Thinkdemy. The platinum sponsor of this event was Mir Cement and the event partners were The Daily Star, Dhaka FM 90.4, Nagorik Television, Boomerang Digital, WE Design, Youth Opportunities and We R Makers.
