An array of crafts on display at Zainul Gallery

The annual art exhibition of the Department of Crafts, University of Dhaka (DU), concludes today at Zainul Gallery -1 and 2, Faculty of Fine Art (FFA) in the campus. The show was inaugurated on November 29 with a commitment to make craft a medium for intellectual exercise for social development.

A total of 115 artworks by 47 students of the department are on display at the exhibition. Seven students were awarded for their best artworks on the opening day. Punom Shaha bagged the best award for her leather mask while Rubiet-E-Sharmin received the experimental award for her appliqué work devotion. Nawshin Nahid received the creative craft award, Zinia Klara Ghose bagged Artist Abdus Shakoor Shah Media Best Award, Shakkar Chakma received Artist Junabul Islam Memorial Award, Suhana Shihab Ema bagged Artist Rashid Chowdhury Memorial Award and Satyananda Ray received Artist Abdul Jabbar Memorial Award. 

DU Vice Chancellor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. While addressing the programme, Professor Akhtaruzzaman said that such exhibitions create room for intellectual exercise.

FFA Dean Professor Nisar Hossain, Associate Professor Mohammad Nazib, convener of the exhibition Assistant Professor Farhana Ferdousi spoke at the event with the Crafts Department's chairperson Md Abdul Momen in the chair.

The exhibition remains open from 11 am to 8 pm.
