Group exhibit features classics of Bangladeshi art

Galleri Kaya celebrates 13th anniversary

Surviving the ever volatile art market of Bangladesh for over a decade now, Galleri Kaya is marking its 13th anniversary through an exhibition from May 5- May 28.

The exhibition will put up various types of works of 32 modern and contemporary artists.

“Some of the exhibits are very rare,” says Goutam Chakraborty of Gallery Kaya, “this includes a 1961 work of Mohammad Kibria, 1963 work of Aminul Islam, a 1992 work of Debdas Chakraborty and another 1992 work of Murtaja Baseer.”

The artists of this exhibition are: Ahmed Shamsuddoha, Aminul Islam, Ankur Singha, Ashraful Hasan, Atin Basak, Chandra Shekhar Dey, Debdas Chakraborty, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Jamal Ahmed, Kamaluddin, Kaoser Sikder, Kazi Rakib, KG Subramanyan, Mansur-ul-Karim, Masuda Kazi, Mohammad Iqbal, Mohammad Kibria, Murtaja Baseer, Nagarbasi Barman, Rafiqun Nabi, Rafi Haque, Ranjit Das, Ratan Mojumder, Ruhul Amin Tarek, Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Shahanoor Mamun, Shambhu Acharya, Sheikh Afzal Hossain, Sheikh Md Rokonuzzaman, Shishir Bhattacharjee, Shohag Parvez and Subrata Das.

Situated in Sector 4, Uttara, Gallery Kaya started its journey in May 2004. So far it has held 92 exhibitions; 54 solo and 38 group shows. The gallery also organised five art trips and five art camps and three workshops on print. The gallery is also known for promoting young upcoming artists.
