Bangladeshi artists to meet their Myanmar counterparts
Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon, in tandem with National University of Arts and Culture, and the Ministry of Culture, Myanmar is to organise a painting exhibition -cum-workshop in the Yangon Gallery from June 19-25. Notable artists from both the countries will participate in the exposition. Bangladeshi artists – Hashem Khan, Mahmudul Haque, Farida Zaman, Mohammad Eunus, Nasreen Begum, Rokeya Sultana, Bipasha Hayat and Bishwajit Goswami will work together in a workshop and exchange views with their counterparts from the National University of Arts and Culture.
The embassy also appreciates the efforts of Korrekt Marketing Services that has been handling bulk of background work to successfully hold the joint art venture. At the same time, Bangladesh Embassy in Myanmar appreciates the efforts of Yangon Gallery, Chin Chaung Culture Centre and the National Museum for hosting various parts of the events.
A press conference was held in this regard at the Azimur Rahman Conference Hall of The Daily Star Centre on June 13. The participating Bangladeshi artists excluding Nasreen Begum along with Nuruzzaman Kaiser, CEO of Korrekt Marketing Services, highlighted the aim of the exhibition.
“Cultural exchange is the prime goal of the exposition. We hope to showcase our art heritage and culture to our neighbour. The exhibition and art camp will further enrich our artistic vision along with intensifying the friendly relationship between the two countries,” said Hashem Khan.
The exhibition, to be inaugurated on June 19, has been planned in several stages. A workshop will be held at the prestigious Chin Chaung Culture Centre, Yangon from June 21 to 23. The Yangon Gallery will display art works generated from the workshop towards the latter part of the exhibition. The second stage of the exhibition will then begin in the National Museum, Yangon which will continue for another week starting from June 25. In addition, an interaction of Bangladeshi artists with the budding artists of the National University of Arts and Culture has also been planned to make the event more comprehensive.
The relationship between Bangladesh and Myanmar is deeply rooted in their shared history, culture and values spanning over many centuries. To further the camaraderie between the people of both countries, the Embassy has undertaken the initiative to offer Myanmar audience a glimpse of Bangladesh culture, through the first-ever exhibition of Bangladeshi paintings with the theme “Confluence of Minds and Interplay of Colours.”
