Bangladeshi artists exhibit in New York

An art exhibition featuring works of several Bangladeshi women artists will open today (July 27) at Rogue Space, Chelsea in New York. The Bangladesh Consulate General in New York in association with Gallery 21 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and The New York Art Connection, is hosting the exhibition.  

The participating artists at the show are Dr. Farida Zaman, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Rokeya Sultana, Shameem Subrana, Gulshan Hossain, Afrozaa Jamil Konka, Bipasha Hayat, Dilruba Latif, Nazia Andaleeb Preema, Samina Nafies, Kaniz Husna Akbory, Masuda Kazi, Salma Kaniz, Sazada Sultana, Shameem Ara, Shamim Begum, Zebunnesa Kamal and others.

The artists have depicted acrylic and oil-based works on diverse themes ranging from the face of acid victim, hilly women, daily labourers' end of a day and the scenic beauty of Bangladesh, and from music of love to the love of midnight.

“I am confident that this art exposition in New York will be true to its traditions in showcasing the beauty and the diversity of our beautiful Bangladesh and the sensitive nature of its people,” wrote Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin as his message in the catalogue. 

Rogue Foundation, the humanitarian wing supported by Rogue Space, Chelsea, is also planning to hold a children's art project in collaboration with Gallery 21, Dhaka and New York Art connection, which will benefit children in need in Dhaka.
